This fabric was manufactured by my great-grandmother Varvara in Belarus in 1950s. My ancestors did the sowing, growing, pulling, retting, scutching, combing, spinning and weaving of linen. They produced the fabric in order to cover the needs for cloths and bed linen of the family. The industrial production didn’t get to small villages – men manufactured looms, women worked with the raw material. Those who lacked resources always found solutions !
